14K gold had a melt value of $75.62 per gram on Nov. 4, 2026, when spot gold traded at $4,020.75 per troy ounce.
That figure reflects pure gold content only, not what a buyer will pay you. 14K means 14 parts gold out of 24, or 58.5% pure gold by weight. The rest is copper, silver, nickel, zinc or palladium, according to GoldPrice.com in its 14K price page.

What does 14K mean?
Look for "14K," "14KT" or "585" stamped on the piece. That mark identifies 58.5% gold content.
The remaining metal strengthens the alloy. The Federal Trade Commission explains that pure gold is 24K, while 14K jewelry mixes 14 parts gold with 10 parts other metal to increase hardness and durability. That added hardness makes 14K practical for rings, chains and daily wear.
How is the per-gram price figured?
Multiply weight in grams by purity, then by the gold price per gram. For 14K, the purity multiplier is 0.585, as shown in the GoldPrice.com method described on its scrap calculator. The math starts with spot price per troy ounce divided by 31.1035.
On Nov. 4, 2026, GoldPrice.com reported spot at $4,020.75 per ounce on its live price page, equal to $129.27 per gram. At that level, 14K melt was also $117.61 per pennyweight and $2,352.14 per troy ounce.
What will a seller actually receive?
Most jewelry sellers receive 85–95% of melt for plain 14K scrap. When melt is $75.62 per gram, that range equals about $64.28–$71.84 per gram.
Pawn shops and mall kiosks often pay less. Get offers in writing and compare them as a percentage of melt.
- Weigh your gold in grams before shopping it
- Calculate melt for that weight at the day's spot price
- Ask each buyer what percentage of melt they pay
What does melt value leave out?
Melt covers only gold content. Retail craftsmanship premiums add nothing to melt.
Gemstones also add nothing to melt. Pieces marked "14K GF" or "GP" are only plated, not solid 14K. Weigh solid pieces separately, remove stones when possible, and seek multiple quotes before selling.
